St Adhelm’s Head
We decided that this would be the last day of our walk and we would finish in Wareham. But first, we made a detour to St Adhelm’s Head because we skipped it when we did the SW Coast Walk.
The chapel was certainly worth the detour. It was a beautiful structure, a darker grey than all the greyness of the area. The thin, long window was a moving sight; it was more effective in anchoring your attention than any monumental architecture or icon in the grandest church.

Creech Heathlands
Completing the circuit round St Adhelm’s Head, we came across a home tea shop in the hamlet of Hill Bottom. The garden certainly took advantage of the position and made a feast of the surrounding hills for the eye.
Going north, passing through Corfe Castle again, I took yet more photos of the castle from its north side. It looked impenetrable, even in ruins.
The heathlands in East Creech were somewhat deserted. We only saw one dog walker with a very well-trained dog.

Wareham
With its gravel riverside walk and Priory towering above tree canopies, Wareham presented a perfect idyll of English countryside. It was a fitting finish for our walk all the way from Child Okeford!
